Man is a creature, on the one hand, amazingly smart, on the other hand – monstrously irrational. He, like few creatures, has the opportunity to accumulate knowledge in order to further apply them for his own good. But, alas, sometimes a person personally harms himself. What for? Unclear. But bad habits are now the rule, not the exception. And okay, when they are quite neutral and safe – for example, some harmless mental games with themselves, such as the desire not to step on cracks in the asphalt or wash only an even number of times.
But there are also habits that inflict real damage on the human body – and considerable. It would seem, why voluntarily harm your health, but for some reason people are constantly doing just that. If you think about it, you will probably be able to recall a couple of bad habits that are inherent in you personally. Let’s look at the most common examples in order to understand how exactly this affects health – and to gain unnecessary motivation to quit all this once and for all. Indeed, without such habits, life will become much easier. So what are bad habits and their effects on health? What is the harmfulness of bad habits for each person?
Food
Let’s start with a very pleasant and necessary desire, which, however, can harm us so much that it doesn’t seem enough. It’s about the desire to eat. It would seem that food is a basic need, if we do not eat properly, we will feel uncomfortable. Alas, normal nutrition has recently become a real science, which, for some reason, is beyond the power of many.
It would seem that it is especially difficult to eat rationally, not to consume harmful products in large quantities, and so on. But this simple task for people turns into a problem with which they can not cope. Here’s the trouble – the consequences of malnutrition are so sad that they can develop into enormous damage to health. If you eat junk food excessively, then plant internal organs; if you eat too much or, conversely, too little, you risk earning obesity or anorexia – such is the harmfulness of bad habits of this kind for a person. And in none of the scenarios there is definitely anything good.
Smoking
Another very dangerous habit that can not only harm human health, but also cause death. It all starts, it seems, is harmless – a person just sometimes starts to smoke to relieve stress, relax and so on. He considers his habit to be one hundred percent harmless, he is sure that he can quit at any moment. But, unfortunately, he is very mistaken. Gradually, he becomes so addicted to this habit that he doesn’t leave it at all – although, it would seem, he wants to. But the addiction has already arisen, and, alas, there is no escape from it.
And then all the harm that cigarettes can do to a person takes effect. They contain thousands (without exaggeration) of various substances that affect the body. The heaviest of them settle in the lungs and so remain there. Very often, smoking leads to cancer due to the high content of carcinogens in tobacco. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. No less often smokers die due to complications associated with the condition of their heart and blood vessels. And this is not counting the simple fact that they have skin problems, an unpleasant smell and many other problems that repel any outside person from them. Would you like to refuse this boat? Hardly.
No less problems are experienced by those who smoke weed, but here most of the consequences are more likely to be social in nature. In any case, smoking bad habits and their consequences are very negative.
Alcoholism
When people recall bad habits and their consequences, then this is point number one. This is not just a problem, it is a real disaster that causes truly destructive damage to modern society. Statistics say that it is because of alcoholism in the world that every third person dies. This is impressive – but worst of all, getting hooked on this addiction is easy. A bad drinking habit is formed in a person from a young age – the traditions of regular drinking on holidays and during gatherings with friends have firmly entered our culture. And it begins, it seems, harmlessly, but over time, this bad habit begins, like a snowball, to gain momentum – and over time it simply becomes impossible to stop it.
A person begins to have numerous problems – after all, the influence of bad habits of this kind is great as little else. For example, a person’s liver is very affected. The functioning of its cardiovascular system is disrupted. His behavior is changing, he is becoming more aggressive. Every day he feels worse and worse – but he can not do anything about it for the simple reason that the addiction has formed at the physiological level. Because a person continues to drink more and more. This leads to serious illness and, with particular neglect, to fatal consequences.
Addiction
You don’t even have to explain much how dangerous this habit is to any person. More precisely, it just doesn’t smell like a bad habit. This is closer to illness rather – the influence of bad habits of this kind is especially difficult – and this is very sad. In general, the severity of the problem is directly related to the severity of the drug. If light enough of them simply severely destroy health, then heavier ones will almost certainly lead to the fact that over time, if there is no death, then at least life will certainly never be the same.
It is good if a person wants to (and has time) to turn to specialists in time for them to carry out qualified treatment. But there’s only a great chance that he won’t do it. Then what will all this lead to? Definitely no good. If a person does not realize his problem, then there is a great chance that no one will help him anymore – and, alas, there will simply be nothing more to do.
Psychological addictions
There are other pronounced bad habits that can harm your body. For example, various psychological predilections can be attributed to such habits. They become a bad habit when they cross some specific reasonable boundaries and frames. For example, take at least gambling. There is nothing wrong if you like to play video games from time to time. It relaxes and helps to relax. But if you spend on it not small intervals during rest, but hours and hours, then it may simply turn out that you will begin a real psychological dependence, a real bad habit will form, which will gradually inexorably undermine your health. After all, it obviously will not get better from constantly sitting at the computer. Physical form, posture will worsen, there will be problems with the eyes, fatigue will increase, and so on.
Video games are just one example. Nothing good will happen if you form the same harmful addiction regarding TV shows or even books. Everything is good exclusively in moderation.
Conclusion
We dealt with examples of what are bad habits and what is their impact on the health of a single person. And these are far from all striking examples of how bad habits negatively affect us and our health. Even if you, for example, bite your nails, you will have a chance to introduce harmful bacteria into the body, which in all their diversity live under the nails. And then it can even lead to all sorts of diseases. But, it would seem, this habit certainly does not seem to be any particularly negative.
Just don’t go too far with anything, try to control your behavior and monitor what you are doing, consciously or unconsciously. Then no especially harmful consequences for your health will arise and you can continue to live without any restrictions. Your health is exclusively in your hands, but it even begins with such seemingly trifles.
