Quitting smoking, unfortunately, is not at all as easy as we would like. People resort to various methods, but most of them are not effective enough, and therefore only lead to wasted time. But people continue to try new and new options, because they never want to resort to such “drastic” measures as therapy or even a specialist’s treatment for nicotine addiction. Therefore, at first everything starts with relatively simple options. These include, but are not limited to, chewing gum from smoking. But what is it and what effect can it bring if a person decided to try to quit smoking? Let’s try to figure it out.
About chewing gum
There are many tools that must combat withdrawal symptoms, and chewing gum against smoking, it is also nicotine gum, is one of the simplest of them. The principle of its action is simple. The fact is that when a person smoked for a long time, he develops a peculiar dependence on nicotine, which gives him a certain discomfort. Now, if he does not smoke, then he constantly wants to drag out.
Chewing gum contains nicotine, but in a minimal amount. Thus, the smoker seems to be satisfied, and a small amount of this substance does not carry such a danger. By the way, such chewing gum is more similar in structure to rubber than to chewing gum in a more traditional and familiar form.
The use of this chewing gum is not very different from ordinary chewing gum. You just chew it every time you want to drag on a cigarette – and preferably longer, because the maximum concentration of nicotine in the blood begins after about seven minutes. The effect of the effect that arises from chewing can last about half an hour. Usually, to quit smoking, a person who is accustomed to smoking a whole pack per day needs about 25 pieces of chewing gum per day, but this amount, of course, can vary depending on the individual characteristics of the body.
Of course, this remedy has harm. The fact is that, of course, chewing gum is much more harmless than a cigarette. And nicotine is much less contained there. But this feeling of harmlessness can lead to uncontrolled use of chewing gum. And if a person eventually begins to chew it more often than previously smoked cigarettes, then the intake of nicotine may increase, instead of decreasing (although, of course, there will no longer be any tar in the body at all). And this in some cases, when a person is too abusing, can even lead to the development of various oncological diseases in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.
Well, of course, do not forget the fact that chewing gum against smoking is largely effective, because it is aimed at getting rid of the bad habit of turning a cigarette in your hands. Yes, it’s just that instead of it, a fundamentally new habit is being developed – chewing gum, which by its additivity can be no less weak.
Finally, we will figure out whether this tool helps in principle from smoking? Yes, it helps, although it is not perfect. According to statistics, the likelihood that a person who uses this tool will quit smoking is approximately one and a half times higher. Moreover, it is used in various specialized clinics. But nothing will work, no chewing gum will help if a person does not show a strong desire to quit smoking. In addition, be sure to read the instructions for use, because for some categories of people, such a remedy is contraindicated. Although smoking, of course, is contraindicated to them even more so, but why risk health?
